What are coloured mirrors?
Coloured mirrors are mirrors with a tinted reflection. A normal mirror is silver: it consists of a clear silver layer on clear glass. A coloured mirror gets its colour in one of two ways.
Coloured glass: grey and bronze
With a grey or bronze mirror, a clear silver layer sits on grey or bronze tinted glass. The glass gives the mirror its colour, and the thicker the glass, the darker the reflection. In a 6 mm grey mirror it looks as if you are looking into the mirror in the dark: you can see yourself, but not well enough to use it as a functional mirror. A bronze mirror is lighter, with a fairly clear and neutral reflection and a light brown tint.
Coloured silver layer: gold, champagne, rosé and blue
With a gold, champagne, rosé or blue mirror, the silver layer itself is coloured. This coloured layer sits on clear glass.
