Questions about standard glass

What is float glass?

Float glass is untempered single glass that cools on a bath of molten tin after melting. This produces a flat, clear sheet of glass.

Which float glass should I choose?

Clear glass is the standard, with a slight green tint at the edge. Extra clear glass is more colour-neutral; coloured glass is grey, bronze or green.

Can I use float glass in a door or shower?

No. For a shower, a door or glass down to the floor, NEN 3569 among others recommends safety glass. Choose tempered or laminated glass instead.
