How do you apply adhesive and sealant to glass or a mirror?
You apply sealant and adhesive with a caulking gun. Cut open the top of the cartridge, screw on the nozzle, put the cartridge in the caulking gun and squeeze the trigger: the sealant then comes out of the nozzle. A caulking gun is not included.
There are many different adhesives and sealants, and each application has its own way of applying, working and finishing. That is why the adhesive and sealant products in our webshop come with instruction videos from the manufacturer. If you are looking for more explanation, you can also find it on the manufacturer's website or on YouTube. Sealant and adhesive for mirrors can be found under mirror adhesive and mirror sealant.
290 or 310 ml cartridge
Glazing sealant, mounting adhesive and silicone sealant for consumers and small-scale use come in a hard plastic cartridge of 290 or 310 ml. This is how you use it:
- Cut open the top of the cartridge.
- Screw the supplied nozzle onto the cartridge.
- Place the cartridge in a caulking gun.
- Squeeze the trigger of the caulking gun; the adhesive or sealant then comes out of the nozzle.
600 ml foil sausage
People who use a lot of sealant and adhesive, such as professionals, often work with 600 ml foil sausages. You need to change them less often and only a small plug of soft plastic is left over, so you work faster and with less waste. For a sausage you do need a different type of caulking gun.
Caulking gun
If you buy adhesive or sealant in a cartridge or sausage, a caulking gun is not included. You order one separately, buy one elsewhere or borrow one. There is a good chance you already have one in your toolbox.
