HR++ glass, 8 mm - spacer (Argon) - #55.2 is double glazing that consists of two glass panes that are hermetically sealed together with a frame. This space between the panes is called the "cavity." For HR++ glass, this spacer is filled with Argon gas for better insulation. The first pane in the product name is placed on the exterior of the building, while the second pane has an HR coating on the interior side of the spacer (indicated by the # symbol) and is installed on the inside of the house/building.
Due to wind load and other external influences, a thicker pane is often chosen for the exterior side of the building than for the interior pane. The spacer is available in several widths. The choice depends on the space in your window frame. The width of the spacer also determines the insulation value and whether the pane falls under the HR, HR+, or HR++ category. A 12 mm spacer has an insulation value of 1.3 (U-value), which falls under "HR+ glass." If you choose 13 mm, it falls into the "HR++ category" (U-value 1.2).
Additional and more detailed information can be found on the page "Information about insulating double glazing"
Features of HR+(+) glass, 8 mm - spacer (Argon) - #55.2:
- Double glazing (insulating glass) consisting of two glass panes with a gas-filled cavity:
Exterior pane: clear glass 8 mm (exterior side of the building)
Cavity: filled with Argon gas (type and width of the profile can be selected in the configurator)
Interior pane: clear laminated glass 55.2 (10.76 mm) with an HR coating on the interior side of the spacer (interior side of the building) - The total glass thickness can be calculated after choosing the spacer width. Both glass thicknesses + spacer width = total pane thickness.
In this case: 8 mm glass + spacer width + 10.76 mm glass - The frame/spacer that creates the space between the glass panels is available in different types and widths
- The frame/spacer is bonded to the glass with a butyl sealant. The sealing around the glass is based on polyurethane or polysulfide (approximately 11 mm high)
- The type and color of the frame/spacer can be chosen in the configurator
- Standard available widths: 6 - 8 - 10 - 12 - 13 - 14 - 15 - 16 mm (18 and 20 mm have an additional cost)
- The glass size is determined by measuring the tight frame size and subtracting the perimeter clearance (usually 5 mm clearance on all sides).
This equates to a total of 10 mm in height and 10 mm in width to subtract to arrive at the net glass size.
This may vary depending on the frame and situation, so be sure to check this carefully according to the guidelines of NPR 3577 - Minimum deliverable size: 150 x 150 mm (price on request!)
Minimum size available for order on the website: 195 x 350 mm - Maximum deliverable size: 2500 x 4000 mm
- Maximum surface area in accordance with NEN2608 (area III up to 4 meters height): 10.00 m²
--> consult the wind load tables to determine the correct glass composition for your situation - This glass weighs 40 kg per m²
- The listed price is per m²
- Customizable in the glass configurator
HR+(+) glass, 8 mm - spacer (Argon) - #55.2 is:
- Custom made
- Delivered according to the specified requirements (note: production tolerances apply to glass!)
- Delivered to the delivery address. Pickup is also possible, the options are mentioned on the payment page
Points of attention:
- This composition cannot be made larger than a maximum of 10.00 m² per pane. This is due to the strength of the window, the risk of breakage and the largest possible surface area based on the wind load tables that take NEN2608 into account. For larger surfaces you will have to switch to thicker compositions
- There are wind load tables for the exact determination of the composition of the glass. These take into account the location of the building in the Netherlands, the height of glass installation and the built or unbuilt environment.
- Safety standards apply that determine whether safety glass should be used. You are at all times responsible for applying the safety standards and requirements applicable in your country!
In the Netherlands, this includes NEN-3569:2011 (“Vlakglas voor gebouwen – Risicobeperking van lichamelijk letsel door brekend en vallend glas – Eisen” voor Nederland).
For the necessary documents and information, see the "downloads" tab on this product page - Ensure that you use the correct glass deduction when ordering the insulating glass, according to NPR 3577
- Think carefully about the right glass size. Size changes are no longer possible once your order has gone into production
- For the production of custom glass, tolerances have been determined within the glass industry in terms of dimensions, quality and finish. These are industry-wide and are used by all glass companies. Please note that it is possible that glass may have a small size deviation (approx. 1 - 2 mm), and certain miniscule damages cannot always be claimed
- Install the glass according to NPR 3577. If not followed, the warranty on the insulating glass will be void. Use the correct glazing blocks, glazing tape, and glazing sealant
- Insulating glass is quite heavy; according to ARBO regulations, you are not allowed to lift more than 20 kg. The driver may need lifting assistance during delivery. You will need to arrange extra hands at the time of delivery
- NEVER place the glass directly on the floor. Always place something in between like a piece wood, blanket, or rug. The chance of damage is very high if the glass is placed on a hard surface. This also applies to contact with walls and other hard surfaces. Protect the glass, as it remains a fragile product
- Work with care, use the right tools, and the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment
- Guidelines for assessing complaints regarding the quality of insulating glass have been established. These guidelines are applied throughout the glass industry in the same way when assessing complaints. These guidelines can be found in the "downloads" tab on this product page

Can my order be delivered?
Sure! We deliver throughout the Netherlands and the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium. Glass comes with special glass transport; a van or truck where glass can be placed in the inside and outside. This way you are assured of optimal transport and that your order is delivered properly. The risk of breakage and / or transport damage is entirely at our risk (including delivery to your home). Another guarantee that you will receive your order neatly and undamaged. We always deliver on the ground floor and up to the front door. We don't deliver in apartment floors, even if there is an elevator available.
You can specify two addresses in your order, your billing address and delivery address. This makes it easy to have your glassware delivered where you need it. And when you are logged in, you can enter multiple delivery addresses, which is useful if you are an entrepreneur and need glass at changing locations.
When do we deliver?
To ensure efficient glass transport, we deliver according to fixed routes. The card contains numbers, these are the first two numbers of your zip code. The color on the map represents a route day. In the legend you can see which color belongs to which delivery day. If the delivery concerns separate parts (and therefore no glass products), we will engage the parcel service for this. These often deliver your package within 1-3 working days. If there is a track-and-trace code, we will send it to you so that you can track your package. Check the product pages for an indication of production / delivery time.
The delivery of glass items can be compared to the delivery of a washing machine or a sofa. It is a durable and delicate product that you don't just have delivered with the parcel service. It is neatly delivered and it is desirable that someone is present at the time of delivery. You will receive the delivery date by email immediately after we have received confirmation of delivery. 1-2 working days before delivery, we will send you another update with a time indication of the delivery.
If you cannot be at home, there are plenty of other possibilities to think of; we can deliver the order to the neighbors, put it in the back of the garden, under a carport, in the shed or any other place that you consider safe, postpone the delivery for a week, etc. etc. But please report this to us in time so that we can give the driver clear instructions in advance. This prevents last-minute research when the driver is at your door and no one is found. If the driver does not meet anyone at the delivery and does not know what to do with the order, he will take the stuff back and the delivery will be postponed for a week. Unfortunately, we are then forced to pass on the transport costs for this extra delivery.
Can I also collect my order?
That is also possible! Please indicate when you complete your order that you would like to collect the order. The collection locations are listed on the payment page. As soon as your order is ready, we will inform you about the collection options, times etc. etc. There are a number of collection locations that charge costs for receiving your order and the handling for collecting your order. The loose products (non-glass products) are not in stock at all pick-up locations and we have to send them to you. We unfortunately have to pass these shipping costs to you. These are also stated on the payment page, as a total under the cancellation costs of the collection locations.
A number of pick-up locations are limited in opening hours. These are business locations that have normal office hours and some locations are closed on Friday afternoon at 3:00 PM. Keep this in mind if you choose to pick up location. Pick up at GlasBoertje is of course also possible, we are more flexible in terms of times.
If you choose the collection option, it is obvious that the risk of breakage and / or damage during collection is also transferred. So check your order carefully before you take it with you.
