Extra clear satin glass 8 mm is a glass plate of 8 mm thick with less iron oxides (low-iron glass) of which 1 side has been acidified. Due to this processing, one side is matt and has a rough surface. This matted side allows the light to diffuse beautifully. This gives you maximum light transmission without transparency. And because of the low-iron glass, the glass is very clear and neutral in color and no green discoloration is visible in the glass.
Extra clear satin glass is used when you want privacy with optimal light transmission. Even if you want to apply a layer of paint on the back, you want to have the brightest possible color without any discoloration on the front. Especially if you paint glass in a light color, then it is as nice as the white paint also looks like real white on the front, and not that it looks a bit greenish. This is just an example and there are several situations where you would rather opt for extra clear satin glass than normal satin glass, but that is often also a personal taste.
The edges of 8 mm extra clear satin glass can be finished with polished edges and you can have a bevelled edge of up to 50 mm wide. When you need a bevelled edge made on satin glass, clearly indicate whether it should be on the matted or smooth side. When this bevelled edge comes on the matted side, the matted layer is grinded off and this part will be transparent so this bevelled edge has the same view as extra clear glass.

Points of attention for 8 mm extra clear satin glass:
When the satin side of the glass gets wet, the glass will become temporarily transparent. Once the water has dried again, it will regain its original matt appearance. This is not a fault of the glass, but this is part of this product. You can't help it. If you have a situation with a wet and dry side, preferably place the matted side on the dry side For the production of custom glass, tolerances have been determined within the glass industry in terms of dimensions, quality and finish. These are industry-wide and are used by all glass companies. Please note that it is possible that glass may have a small size deviation (approx. 1 - 2 mm), and certain miniscule damages cannot always be claimed Think carefully about the right glass size. Size changes are no longer possible once your order has gone into production Within the glass industry it is customary to calculate a minimum surface per piece. This is necessary because the handling of an order is always necessary and this prevents a glass plate from costing € 1.50, for example, while the actual production costs are much higher.
