Satin glass 12 mm is clear glass with one side etched by treating it with etching liquid. This etching gives a matte side on one side of the glass. This side lets light through, but you can't see through it. This glass is also called "frosted glass 12 mm".
You can use this standard (not tempered) satin glass for interior applications. If you would like to use this as a shelf in a cupboard, a shelf mounted with glass supports, tabletop or as windows for an interior door or gazebo, then we recommend you to choose the tempered version. This is based on the strength of the glass and safety requirements.
Main features of satin glass 12 mm:
Satin glass of 12 mm thickness with a matte finish on one side. This mattering is applied by etching the glass, this is called etched glass
One side is matted with the surface feeling a little rough. The other side is just like normal glass
WATCH OUT!! Normal glass has been used in this type of glass. As a result, there will be a slight greenish discoloration which may slightly deviate from the reality of the image on the website
Suitable for indoor application, limited as outdoor application (the satin-finished side becomes limited transparent when this side gets wet. When this side has dried, the matted side gets it´s frosted look again)

Points of attention for 12 mm satin glass:
WATCH OUT!! Normal glass has been used in this type of glass. As a result, there will be a slight greenish discoloration which may slightly deviate from the reality of the image on the website
When the satin side of the glass gets wet, the glass will become temporarily transparent. Once the water has dried again, it will regain its original matt appearance. This is not a fault of the glass, but this is part of this product. You can't help it. If you have a situation with a wet and dry side, preferably place the matted side on the dry side
You are responsible at all times for applying the safety standards and requirements applicable in your country! In the Netherlands, this includes NEN-3569:2011 (“Vlakglas voor gebouwen – Risicobeperking van lichamelijk letsel door brekend en vallend glas – Eisen” voor Nederland).
For the production of custom glass, tolerances have been determined within the glass industry in terms of dimensions, quality and finish. These are industry-wide and are used by all glass companies. Please note that it is possible that glass may have a small size deviation (approx. 1 - 2 mm), and certain miniscule damages cannot always be claimed
Think carefully about the right glass size. Size changes are no longer possible once your order has gone into production
Within the glass industry it is customary to calculate a minimum area per piece. This is necessary because the handling of an order is always necessary and this prevents a glass plate from costing € 1.50, for example, while the actual production costs are much higher. The minimum area to be calculated differs per product and is stated under the tab "More information" on the product page
