This shower hinge from Pauli + Sohn is a high-quality product from Germany and is part of the Nivello series. The "Nivello" series consists of various wall-glass and glass-glass hinges, mainly used for the installation of folding shower walls or bath screens requiring a lifting function. The hinge will lift the door approximately 6 mm at a 54-degree opening. The hinges are quite small, making them inconspicuous, but their load capacity is somewhat limited. Therefore, you cannot hang a shower screen that is 1000 mm wide on these hinges; it is limited to a maximum of 900 mm wide.

This hinge is sold individually, and the listed price is a unit price. However, the specified specifications are based on the use of two hinges, which is logical because a door with only one hinge would not function.

Due to the built-in lifting function, these hinges are single-acting, meaning they can only rotate in one direction. Therefore, when ordering, be sure to choose whether you want a door that opens only inward or only outward. You will also need to determine whether you want the hinge on the left or right. To correctly determine the position of these hinges, we assume the position in the bathroom, looking towards the shower. The default position of this hinge is on the right, where the pivot point is outside the shower, and the door can only rotate into the bathroom.

Points of attention:

  • Ensure that you use the correct glass deduction when ordering the glass door. For example, if you place a sealing profile, you will need a different glass deduction than if you install the door without a seal. Ask us for advice if you are unsure
  • Always use sealing profile 8861KU0 on the hinge side with this hinge; without this seal, the glass may break!
  • Read the installation manual thoroughly in advance! It contains useful installation tips
  • Use the right screws and plugs for your situation; these are NOT included with the hinge as standard. Screws with a too-small head can damage the hinge and even break it. Pay close attention to this!
  • Mount the hinges on the glass door, position the door in the right place, mark the boreholes of the elongated holes on the wall. Now remove the door, drill the holes of the elongated holes, and place the correct plugs
  • Place the door back in the correct position and screw it hand-tight to the wall, position it (read the manual!) and then tighten it securely
  • Adjust the zero position properly (see also the manual)
  • Work with care and with the right tools
  • Preferably use a long spirit level or a laser level for proper door positioning
  • Up to a door height of 2000 mm (200 cm), always use two hinges. If the door is higher, three hinges are used. This provides better load capacity, and the pressure when opening/closing the door is better distributed over three hinges
  • Never let the door rest directly on the floor; always place something in between, such as a wooden slat, blanket, rug, etc. Placing glass on a hard surface greatly increases the risk of damage. This also applies to contact with the wall and other hard surfaces. Protect the glass; it remains a fragile product
